Australian workplace first aid compliance made simple

Whether you run a business, manage a team, or are responsible for workplace safety, understanding first aid compliance is essential. It’s not just about having a kit on the wall, it’s about protecting your people and meeting your legal obligations.

Why first aid compliance matters

Workplaces in Australia are required by law to have appropriate first aid in place. What you need depends on:

  • How many people are on site
  • What kind of work is being done
  • Whether your team is based in a fixed location or on the move

Getting it wrong can put lives at risk and expose your business to legal consequences.

Where do you need first aid kits?

There are five common settings:

  • Home
  • Personal use
  • Recreation
  • Workplace
  • Vehicle

Only workplace and vehicle kits need to meet compliance standards.

Vehicle first aid compliance

Work vehicles count as a workplace under the WHS Code of Practice. That means they must carry a compliant first aid kit.

R1 Series vehicle kits cover up to 10 people and are designed for mobile workers.

Note: You still need a separate kit for your fixed workplace location.

Workplace first aid compliance

There are two key questions to ask:

  1. How many people work at the site?
  2. Is the environment low or high risk?

Low-risk workplaces include offices, retail stores, and admin areas.

High-risk workplaces include construction sites, manufacturing, and outdoor or hazardous environments.

FastAid has kits to suit both:
